Networking &
Meetings Guide

How to find the right people, request meetings, and start conversations on the connexU event platform.

1

Finding People

There are three ways to discover who's attending the event and find the people you want to meet.

Search Bar

Type a name, company, or keyword into the search bar at the top of the screen. Results show matching people, companies, and products across the entire event. Available on both desktop and the mobile app.

Browse Attendee Lists

Use the sidebar navigation on desktop or the Attendees and Companies sections in the mobile app to explore the full attendee list. Use filters to narrow results by job title, company type, or area of interest.

Recommended for You

The platform suggests contacts based on your profile and interests. The more complete your profile, the better the recommendations. Check these from the homepage after logging in.

Tip

Complete your profile during onboarding — especially your job title, company, and interests — to get the most relevant recommendations and appear in other people's searches.

2

Requesting a Meeting

Once you've found someone you'd like to meet, here's how to send a meeting request.

Desktop

  1. Find the person via search, browse, or recommendations
  2. Click on their profile
  3. Click the calendar icon labelled Request a Meeting
  4. Pick an available time and location
  5. Optionally add a message explaining why you'd like to meet
  6. Click Send Request

Mobile App

  1. Find the person via search, browse, or recommendations
  2. Tap on their profile
  3. Tap the calendar icon labelled Request a Meeting
  4. Pick an available time slot
  5. Optionally add a short message
  6. Tap Send Request

Tip

A short personal message with your meeting request significantly increases acceptance rates. Mention what you'd like to discuss or why the meeting would be valuable.

Good to know

Only time slots that work for both of you will be shown. You don't need to be connected with someone to request a meeting — a connection is created automatically when the request is accepted.

3

Meeting Statuses

Here's what each meeting status means in your schedule.

Scheduled

Confirmed — both parties have accepted. This time is now blocked in your schedule.

Pending

Someone has requested a meeting with you. You'll need to accept, decline, or reschedule.

Awaiting

You've sent a request and are waiting for the other person to respond.

Declined

The meeting was declined by one or more participants.

4

Managing Your Schedule

Keep track of all your meetings and stay organised on event day.

My Schedule

View all your meetings — confirmed, pending, and awaiting response — in the My Schedule section. You can also see meetings with a specific person on their profile page.

Timezones

All meeting times are displayed in the local timezone of the event venue. This is set automatically and cannot be changed.

Meeting Clashes

If you have multiple pending meetings at the same time, they'll be flagged as clashes. You'll need to resolve the clash before you can accept. Confirmed meetings always block the time slot.

Adding Participants

If multi-user meetings are enabled, you can add more people to a confirmed meeting from the My Schedule section or from a participant's profile. Note: the mobile app only supports 1-to-1 meeting booking, but you can accept multi-user invites on mobile.

Connecting & Messaging

To message someone on the platform, you first need to be connected. There are two ways this happens:

Schedule a Meeting

Once a meeting is confirmed, you're automatically connected and can chat immediately. This is the fastest way to open a conversation.

Use the Connect Button

Click or tap "Connect" on someone's profile to express interest. Once they accept (creating mutual interest), the chat opens. You'll receive a notification when someone accepts your connection.

Where to find your messages:

Desktop

  1. Go to My Connections in the navigation bar
  2. Find the person in your connections list
  3. Click their profile to open the chat

Mobile App

  1. Tap the Chat tab
  2. Find the person in your list
  3. Tap to open the conversation
Tip

If connecting with someone is critical, request a meeting rather than waiting for mutual interest via the Connect button — it's faster and enables chat immediately.

Quick FAQ

Common questions about networking and meetings on the platform.

Q Can I message someone without a meeting or connection?
No — you need either a confirmed meeting or a mutual connection (via the Connect button) before the chat feature is available.
Q Is there a limit to how many meetings I can request?
This depends on the event setup. If you hit a limit, you'll see a notification on the platform.
Q Can I cancel or reschedule a meeting?
Yes — from the My Schedule section on desktop. On mobile you can accept or decline, but rescheduling is best done on desktop.
Q Can I add more people to a meeting?
If multi-user meetings are enabled for the event, yes — from My Schedule or the participant's profile on desktop. The mobile app only supports 1-to-1 meeting booking, but you can accept multi-user meeting invites on mobile.
Q Why is my Chat list empty?
You haven't made any connections yet. Request a meeting or use the Connect button on someone's profile to get started. Once a connection is made, they'll appear in your Chat list.
